While study.com has hundreds of courses fully laid out in a sequential manner I still like to add some customization. I think that online courses have their place and can be a fantastic learning tool but I really do think it's important to incorporate more hands on, tactile learning as well. Sometimes though it fees overwhelming to scour the interwebs for those hands on ideas and pull them all together into a unit study. Narrowing the field we're searching in can help us focus in and save time.
One way I do this is by using both the laid out courses in study.com that use videos, readings and quizzes and combining them with teacher lesson plans for more offline activities. Study.com has an extensive library of teacher lesson plans on a wide variety of topics.
For example, in the midst of a Physics 101 course, when looking at the topics being covered I then searched for related physics lesson plans and came up with a lesson on exploring physics on the playground. I can then print that off and take it with us to experiment with while leaving a lot of the background work and teaching calculations to the video lessons.
As we prep for the upcoming school year this is one option that I’m considering and I thought I’d share that tip!
