It can feel daunting to determine how to approach covering the events of WWII as there are so many significant events that occurred on different fronts and theatres of the war. This project attempts to quell some of the overwhelm by focussing on 20 key events. Are they THE key events? That answer will depend on who you ask. This project does not contain EVERY key event but it will help paint a picture of the progression of conflict. I recommend checking out my WWII Documentary Viewing Project to guide students through a more in depth look at WWII through documentaries.

Timeline Cards: 20 timeline cards giving a brief description the event plus the date.

Fact Finding Missions: each card contains a fact finding prompt that students must use resources to find the answer to and then summarize it on the back. This is meant to encourage additional reading on the topic and hopefully lead to pursuing “rabbit trails” based on interest. Think of it like strewing. An answer key is included.

Format: This project contains template and instructions to make the Accordion Pocket Book to hold all the cards or they can be attached to make a Card Wheel instead.

This is a great independent project and one that is a bit tamer on the “sensitive content” scale when it comes to war related content. As always, use discretion with war related material.
