This 35 page educational resource equips teachers and home educators to utilize the various well made documentaries (and films and TV series) about WWII as part of their high school history curricula (can be used for middle school as well).

The resource is open ended in such a way that it can be used with any documentary. The resource does NOT give recommendations on which documentaries to use as war media is often intense and graphic and what media to use is best decided by the parent.

Included:

  • 3 Page Viewing Log to be used with each episode (or segment of a film). Print as many as you need for each episode.
  • 7 different Themed Prompt Activities related to WWII but open ended. These may be essay responses, personal reflections, cause and effect, timelines, etc. They are all meant to be based off of the documentary.
  • 1 Infographic on “The Rise of a Dictator”

This resource is a great way to engage students in the learning that is happening as they watch various documentaries. Facilitators can choose to either have them complete all prompted activities or a selection of them. Students will end up with a physical portfolio of their engagement with the documentary which is a great way to “earn credit” for the immersive learning that occurs with watching documentaries and historical films.
