High School English Language Arts
Full Semester Course – Grades 9–12
A complete, ready-to-use high school English Language Arts course that guides you through an entire semester of learning with everything organized, structured, and prepared for you.
This course explores how meaning is created, communicated, and interpreted through a wide range of texts and creative work. Students engage with humour, literature, poetry, contemporary language, and reflective writing, examining how perspective, tone, and context shape both expression and understanding.
Across five unit studies (designed for a full semester), students explore expression from multiple angles through the study of:
- Humour and comedic writing
- The Importance of Being Earnest - classic literature
- Universal Poetry Study (student choice of poems or song lyrics)
- Teen Slang Linguistic Lab - how language evolves
- Mindscapes (guided research and essay writing project on how we perceive reality.
Students are invited to move beyond surface-level responses and engage more deeply with ideas, language, and meaning. Through reading, discussion, analysis, and creative work, they develop their ability to think critically and communicate clearly.
