Do your students understand the sheer amount of work that goes into planning travel?

Planning a trip involves a considerable skill set and it’s one that many don’t have exposure to as middle schoolers or teens. If they do have exposure it’s often with curated printable that take a lot of the research elements out of the process. Those however are some of the most crucial skills to cultivate.

The Dream Vacation Life Skills project will bring students sequentially through the steps in planning and booking a trip and creating a full budget for travel. The project primarily uses Google Travel as it is easily accessible and well set up. Sections include:

✈️ Where are You? Airport Codes

✈️ Road Trip Driving Radius Map Activity

✈️ Road Trip Destinations Research

✈️ Who’s Traveling with You?

✈️ Traveler Type Quiz

✈️ Travel Wish List

✈️ Destination + Dates Form

✈️ Booking Flights

✈️ Luggage Info and Packing Activity

✈️ Travel Budget (High and Low - they’ll create 2 budgets)

✈️ Accommodations Search and Budgeting

✈️ Accommodations Forms

✈️ Reviews Summary

✈️ Transportation and Car Rentals

✈️ Activity Itinerary Planning and Budgeting

✈️ Food Research and Budgeting

✈️ Souvenirs Survey and Budgeting

✈️ Currency Exploration

✈️ Incidentals and Emergency Funds Budgeting

✈️ Travel Package Guide

I’ve been doing this with my own kids and they’ve planned half of our next upcoming trip! They’ve found the best places for us to stay in our budget, researched activities they’re interested in and chosen flights! This is such  fantastic authentic project that builds REAL LIFE SKILLS!
